Award Criteria

Who Should Enter?

Anyone who has been promoted to a new management role within their organization during the calendar year of 2012 is eligible to be considered for the Bud to Boss Awards. The cut off for nominations is December 16, 2012. The Awards Banquet is currently scheduled for March 2013.

Nominees will be judged based on how well they made the transition from "bud" to boss, as well as what they accomplished in their new role. What were the significant improvements and contributions they made to the achievements, morale and productivity of their team?

A semi-finalist and a finalist will be chosen from each of the following categories, based on industry and company size (each nominee can only pick one industry and one company size category, so please choose the one of each that best fits):

  • Consumer Services
  • Education
  • Energy & Utilities
  • Financial Services
  • Government
  • Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals & BioTech
  • Manufacturing
  • Media & Entertainment
  • Non-profit

  • Retail
  • Software & Internet
  • Telecommunications
  • Transportation & Storage
  • Travel, Recreation & Leisure
  • Wholesale Distribution
  • Company size (number of full-time employees):

  • 1 to 249 employees
  • 250 to 499 employees
  • 500 or more employees
  • An overall winner will be chosen as "Best New Leader of 2011" from the finalists and semi-finalists and will receive the top prize—a scholarship to an accredited MBA program.
